Antoine Jobard

John Gilman: “This is one of the very finest white Burgundy domaines to be found anywhere in the Côte de Beaune.” Neal Martin: “It has been three or four years since I last tasted with Antoine and my memories were of a young man learning the ropes from his father. Now he comes across as a fully-fledged, fully-formed winemaker and, just like Jobard père, he is furnishing wine lovers with what I regard as some of the best Meursault out there. Antoine enthused about the quality of the 2013s, praising the acidity and the gras-like personalities of his wines. There certainly form an impressive bunch, standouts being a marvellous Meursault Genevrières that is underpinned by fabulous mineralité, flanked by a heavenly Meursault Charmes. It was good to see Antoine Jobard and see for myself that with the passing of one generation to another, the wines have gone from strength to strength.”

  1. Bourgogne Blanc | Antoine Jobard | Antoine Jobard

John Gilman: ‘The 2014 Bourgogne Blanc from Domaine Jobard is a very pretty wine, as the hail did not hit this far down the slope. The bouquet wafts from the glass in a stylish mix of apple, peach, lovey nutty overtones and a really fine base of minerality (particularly for its level). On the palate the wine is full-bodied, round and nicely balanced, with a succulent attack, solid core and nice touch of backend minerality on the pretty long finish. Quite stylish.’ Lees verder

  2. Meursault "en la Barre" | Antoine Jobard | Antoine Jobard

John Gilman: “The 2013 En La Barre is very young and tight out of the blocks and will need some bottle age to blossom, but it shows very fine potential. The nose delivers a mélange of apple, pear, hazelnut, gentle leesy tones, chalky soil and just a touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and quite reserved in personality, with a fine core, bright acids, lovely soil signature and very good cut and grip on the long and nascently complex finish. This will be quite tasty, but will need at least a couple of years in the bottle to start to stir.” Lees verder

  3. Meursault "les Tillets" | Antoine Jobard | Antoine Jobard

Burghound: ‘Here there is no reduction in evidence which allows the citrus and floral-scented nose to shine. The mouth feel of the middle weight flavors is completely different from that of the En la Barre as this is delicate and refined with lovely delineation present on the much more obviously mineral-inflected and chiseled finale where a hint of citrus character is present. This is pretty much textbook. Outstanding’ Lees verder

  4. Meurssault 1er Cru Blagny | Antoine Jobard | Antoine Jobard

John Gilman: “The 2012 Meursault Blagny” is extremely elegant this year- not always the case with young Blagny mind- and is a superb bottle in the making, The wine offers up a lovely aromatic mélange of tangerine, apple, a hint of iodine, almonds, lovely floral notes, deep soil tones and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and displays outstanding mid-palate depth, with great backend soil signature, crisp acids and lovely focus and grip on the very long and classic finish. A superb example of Meursault “Blagny”. 93.” Lees verder

  5. Meursault 1er Cru Blagny I Antoine Jobard | Antoine Jobard

John Gilman: ‘As I noted in the introduction, there was no hail in Meursault “Blagny” this year and this wine has turned out very well indeed. The lovely nose jumps from the glass in a classic blend of apple, passion fruit, a fine base of minerality, almond and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, focused and complex, with very good focus and grip, a rock solid core and very good backend energy on the poised and zesty finish. A lovely example.’ Lees verder

  6. Meursault 1er Cru Les Poruzots | Antoine Jobard | Antoine Jobard

Burghound: ‘A deft application of wood sits atop the ripe green fruit, apple and grapefruit-scented nose. There is much more volume, size, weight and muscle to the big-bodied and overtly powerful flavors that are less mineral-inflected but compensate by delivering even better length on the moderately rustic finale. This concentrated effort is a classic Poruzots. Outstanding’ Lees verder

  7. Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Gain | Antoine Jobard | Antoine Jobard

John Gilman: “The Jobard parcel in Champgains lie right on the border with les Truffières in Puligny, with the parcel planted to sixty year-old vines. The 2013 version is outstanding, offering up a superb nose of apple, a touch of clementine, white peach, superb minerality, vanillin oak and a topnote of white flowers. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very racy, with excellent mid-palate depth, fien focus and cut and a very long, pure and minerally finish. An outstanding bottle of Puligny-Montrachet.” Lees verder

  8. Meursault 1er Cru Charmes | Antoine Jobard | Antoine Jobard

Burghound: ‘from a small .17 ha parcel situated directly below Perrières that was planted in 1963. Reduction and wood toast make for a pungent combination. By contrast there is a highly seductive mouth feel to the pure and transparent middle weight flavors that exhibit much more minerality, all wrapped in a chiseled, intense and beautifully long and complex finale. Lovely stuff and in particular I like the sense of harmony here. Outstanding Lees verder

  9. Meursault 1er Cru Les Genevrières | Antoine Jobard | Antoine Jobard

Burghound: ‘A mild hint of reduction shaves the top notes from the pretty combination of spice, acacia blossom and citrus aromas. The sleek and quite finely detailed flavors possess an excellent sense of tension that adds appeal to the sophisticated mouth feel and particularly so on the mineral-driven and well-balanced finale. Outstanding’ Lees verder
