Robert-Denogent

Bill Nanson: ‘A couple of weeks ago I had the chance to taste, and the wines were really excellent – even more-so when factoring in the value versus a Puligny or Meursault. I started without my pen, but the wines were so good I had to find it, hence, the notes gradually get longer!”

  1. Macon-Fuissé 'Les Taches' I Robert-Denogent | Robert-Denogent

Burghound: 'A ripe, fresh and expressive nose combines notes of pear, apple and citrus peel with those of spice and acacia blossom. There is a bit more volume to the seductively textured and very rich middle weight flavors that are blessed with ample amounts of dry extract that impart a sappy quality to the solidly persistent finish. This isn't quite as tight as the Bertillon and should be approachable after only 2 to 3 years of bottle age. This too is excellent.' Lees verder

  2. Pouilly-Fuissé 'La Croix' I Robert-Denogent | Robert-Denogent

Burghound: 'As good as the Les Pommards is this is clearly at another level altogether with its elegant nose of mineral reduction, pear, apple and lemon rind scents. The cool, pure and sleek middle weight flavors exude a fine bead of minerality on the extract-rich medium-bodied flavors that coat the palate on the refined, focused, linear and impeccably well-balanced finale. This is terrific and I very much like the chiseled quality of the backend.' Lees verder

  3. Pouilly-Fuissé 'Les Reisses' I Robert-Denogent | Robert-Denogent

Burghound: 'This is at once notably ripe but also exceptionally fresh with its airy array of liqueur-like apple and pear aromas that are liberally laced with various citrus elements including a subtle tangerine peel nuance. There is a bit more volume and richness to the admirably well-concentrated, caressing and sappy middle weight flavors that also brim with plenty of dry extract, all wrapped in a wonderfully sleek and saline finale that is, at present anyway, a bit less refined and complex.' 4. Pouilly-Fuissé 'Cuvée Claude Denogent' I Robert-Denogent | Robert-Denogent

Burghound: 'This is the first wine to display much in the way of post-bottling reduction but in this case it's enough to warrant a thorough aeration if you're determined to try a bottle young. Otherwise there is superb richness, volume and mouth coating dry extract to support the medium weight flavors that are at once succulent but powerful while delivering excellent length on the driving finish. This isn't especially refined but it is certainly impressive and very clearly built-to-age.' Lees verder

  5. Pouilly-Fuissé 'Le Carron' I Robert-Denogent | Robert-Denogent

Burghound: 'Like the Bertillon the nose is quite phenolic though not to the point of dominating the reserved nose of various white orchard fruit and floral scents that are trimmed in a discreet application of wood. As is usually the case this is the biggest, richest and most powerful wine in the range with flat out superb mid-palate density that brims with dry extract that serves to buffer the opulent but bone dry, citrusy, explosively long and almost painfully intense finale. This is packed with development potential and I would advise not even touching a bottle for the first 5 years. 93' Lees verder
