Domaine Huet

Iedere wijnkenner kent de naam van deze legendarische Vouvray producent. Samen met Clos Naudin vormt dit domein de top van Vouvray. Het is bijzonder interessant de wijnen van deze twee grootheden te vergelijken. Ieder heeft zijn eigen stijl: Foureau’s wijnen zijn jong, bijzonder krachtig maar weerbarstig en hebben veel tijd nodig zich te presenteren, in tegenstelling tot die van Huet die extreem precies en verfijnd zijn en in hun jeugd al vaak behoorlijk toegankelijk. Huet vinifieert zijn akkers ieder apart. De bodems en de ligging van de wijngaarden verschillen sterk en leveren wijnen met ieder een geheel eigen karakter. In grote jaren maakt men ook een zogenaamde cuvée 1ère Trie. Hiervoor gaat men in verschillende plukgangen door de wijngaard en selecteert men het allerbeste druivenmateriaal van door edelrot aangetaste druiven. Sinds 1990 werkt men op Domaine Huet volledig biologisch-dynamisch. De oogst van 2016 leverde maar weinig volume, maar wijnen van zeer hoog niveau. The near-Loire green marl and silex site also shines through the 2008 Vouvray Le Mont Moelleux Première Trie, which opens so discreet and subtle but also so intense, deep and dusty on its lemon-peel nose, that you want to sniff the bouquet for hours. On the palate, this is a wine for purists and terroirists because it is not just clear and precise but also piquant, straightly vertical and marked by its high acidity level and lingering salinity, whereas the fruit is completely interwoven with melting and weathering stones. The finish, however, is so juicy and aromatic, so sensual and tender but also so mineral in the aftertaste, that you might be thinking of crushed firestones on your palate. So much tension and salinity here, but finally it is the fruit that lingers. A fascinating '08! 2008 was a small, low-yielding vintage with tiny, thick-skinned berries that were difficult to press without the result of over-extraction. 96/100' Lees verder

    The Wine Advocate: 'At 11% alcohol and 150 grams of residual sugar, the Huet 2009 Vouvray Cuvee Constance – fourth in the past decade, incidentally – offers a striking nose of honey, white raisin, and concentrated herbal and floral essences. Salted caramel, hazelnut cream, marzipan, white raisin, liquid floral perfume, and honey are all leavened with fresh lime, white peach, and grapefruit. Like a refined cocktail of essence-of-Chenin mingled with fresh fruit juices with dashes of salt and chalk, this finishes with ravishing and invigorating persistence and should be worth following for 3 or more decades. 96/100' Lees verder
