Domaine Huet

Sinds 1990 werkt men op Domaine Huet volledig biologisch-dynamisch. De oogst van 2016 leverde maar weinig volume, maar wijnen van zeer hoog niveau. 1. Vouvray Le Haut Lieu, Sec | Domaine Huet

John Gilman: 'The 2017 Vouvray “Le Haut Lieu” Sec from Domaine Huët is absolutely classic in profile, coming in at an even thirteen percent and offering up beautiful precision on both the nose and palate. The lovely nose wafts from the glass in a youthful blend of quince, apple, chalk dust, lanolin, a hint of honeycomb and a topnote of white flowers. On the palate the wine is crisp, full and focused, with a rock solid core, great soil signature, excellent balance and a very long, bright and complex finish. This is a very, very elegant young vintage of Le Haut Lieu Sec and the wine will age very long and very gracefully. Fine, fine juice. 2018-2021; 2028-2060+. 93+.' Lees verder

  3. Vouvray Le Haut Lieu Demi Sec I Domaine Huet

John Gilman: "2017 Le Haut Lieu Demi-Sec from Domaine Huët is excellent on both the nose and palate, offering up a classic bouquet of quince, apple, chalky soil tones, bee pollen, lanolin and a topnote of white lilies. On the palate the wine is crisp, full-bodied, focused and complex, with a lovely core, fine transparency, bright acids and very impressive length and grip on the still quite youthful finish. This is quite approachable in its early youth, but will no doubt close down into a dusty and reticent adolescence in a few years and then be quite unapproachable for a decade, but it looks destined to be quite classically proportioned and will age long and gracefully. 2018- 2020; 2030-2080. 93." 4. Vouvray Le Haut Lieu, Demi-Sec I Domaine Huet

Jancis Robinson: 'RS 18 g/l. The sweetness seems to mask some of the fruit purity, but the technical balance of acid and sugar is very well judged, leaving the palate absolutely clean and refreshed. Shows all the standard waxy, lemon curd flavours of Chenin Blanc, with a honeyed finish. (RH)' Lees verder

  5. Vouvray Petillant Brut Reserve I Domaine Huet

Jancis Robinson: 'More creamy and rich than the 2010. Full body, complex yeasty notes from the autolysis. Also has charming steely character and superb pristine green apple fruit. This isn't just as good as champagne, it's up there with the top prestige brands. (RH)' Lees verder

  7. Vouvray Le Mont, Sec I Domaine Huet

John Gilman: "The 2017 Sec bottling from the Le Mont vineyard is another gem from Domaine Huët. The bouquet is bright, pure and nascently complex, offering up scents of lemon, apple, quince, bee pollen, chalky soil tones and a topnote of spring flowers. On the palate the wine is deep, fullbodied and more closed in personality than the Le Haut Lieu Sec, with a bit of the backend dustiness of shutdown young Vouvray already starting to throw its weight around, but with excellent depth at the core and impressive focus. The finish is long, beautifully balanced and intensely flavored, with great energy and grip. This is dynamite wine in the making but unlike the Le Haut Lieu Sec, I would be tempted to tuck this away in the cellar right away and not drink any bottles during its first couple of years, as I have the sense that this is going to shut down quite briskly and it will be pointless to waste bottles early on, particularly given how much potential there is here for down the road! 2028-2060+. 94." 8. Vouvray Le Mont Moelleux I Domaine Huet

John Gilman: "The 2017 Le Mont Moelleux is a beautiful wine in the making, with less overt botrytis in evidence and more of a concentrated bouquet from passerillage and perfect ripening. The nose drifts from the glass in a very refined and classy blend of sweet quince, pineapple, apple chalky minerality, hints of honeycomb and a lovely topnote of orange blossoms. On the palate the wine is pure, racy and full, with superb mid-palate depth, outstanding focus and grip, a very youthful personality and a very, very long and classy finish. This is extremely 1989-like in personality and a great wine in the making. 2027-2075+. 95+." Lees verder

  12. Vouvray Le Clos du Bourg Demi-Sec I Domaine Huet

John Gilman: "The 2017 Clos du Bourg Demi-Sec is a stunning wine in the making. The bouquet offers up a superb constellation of apple, pineapple, quince, very complex minerality, honeycomb, orange blossoms and lanolin. On the palate the wine is pure, nascently complex and full-bodied, with superb depth at the core, bright, seamless acids, laser-like focus and outstanding grip and balance on the long, vibrant and stunning finish. This too will be approachable for a few years and then shut down for an extended period of hibernation, but unlike the Le Haut Lieu Demi- Sec, where early sampling would be perfectly understandable, to waste bottles of the 2017 Clos du Bourg Demi-Sec drinking it in its early window of accessibility would border on a crime! This is a legend in the making. 2018-2020.2030-2090. 95+." Lees verder

  13. Vouvray Le Clos du Bourg Moelleux I Domaine Huet

The Wine Advocate: "Quince and white peach preserves fill the nose caressingly coat the palate from Huet’s 2009 Vouvray Moelleux Clos du Bourg, which displays a combination of lift and delicacy with its honeyed richness that none of the present collection tasted up until this point approach. Here are brightness, energy, and efficacious acids driving the quince, pineapple, seamlessly forward. Here, too are mineral nuances too often missing from the sweet Vouvray and Montlouis of this vintage. Expect this superbly persistent bottling to be worth following for a quarter century." 17. Vouvray Le Clos du Bourg, Moelleux 1ère Trie I Domaine Huet

The Wine Advocate: 'Huet's brilliantly dark yellow colored 2008 Vouvray Clos du Bourg Moelleux Première Trie offers a super clear and ripe, concentrated and highly elegant, gorgeously aromatic bouquet of ripe, yellow-skinned fruits and a dusty stone and smoky bacon aromas. Sweet and full of finesse and salty minerals on the highly elegant and fruit-intense palate, this beautifully balanced Chenin develops a great tension, density and compact structure that also dominates the long and very promising finish. There is so much finesse and concentration in this wine that you can only fall in love with it. Luckily this affair will hold much longer than today's average marriage. 95/100' Lees verder

  19. Vouvray Le Mont, Moelleux 1ère Trie I Domaine Huet

The Wine Advocate: 'Le Mont! The near-Loire green marl and silex site also shines through the 2008 Vouvray Le Mont Moelleux Première Trie, which opens so discreet and subtle but also so intense, deep and dusty on its lemon-peel nose, that you want to sniff the bouquet for hours. On the palate, this is a wine for purists and terroirists because it is not just clear and precise but also piquant, straightly vertical and marked by its high acidity level and lingering salinity, whereas the fruit is completely interwoven with melting and weathering stones. The finish, however, is so juicy and aromatic, so sensual and tender but also so mineral in the aftertaste, that you might be thinking of crushed firestones on your palate. So much tension and salinity here, but finally it is the fruit that lingers. A fascinating '08! 2008 was a small, low-yielding vintage with tiny, thick-skinned berries that were difficult to press without the result of over-extraction. 96/100' Lees verder

  21. Vouvray, Moelleux Cuvée Constance I Domaine Huet

The Wine Advocate: 'At 11% alcohol and 150 grams of residual sugar, the Huet 2009 Vouvray Cuvee Constance – fourth in the past decade, incidentally – offers a striking nose of honey, white raisin, and concentrated herbal and floral essences. Salted caramel, hazelnut cream, marzipan, white raisin, liquid floral perfume, and honey are all leavened with fresh lime, white peach, and grapefruit. Like a refined cocktail of essence-of-Chenin mingled with fresh fruit juices with dashes of salt and chalk, this finishes with ravishing and invigorating persistence and should be worth following for 3 or more decades. 96/100' Lees verder

  22. Vouvray Moelleux Cuvée Constance I Domaine Huet

The Wine Advocate: "Rarely produced and selected from the vineyards Le Haut-Lieu, Le Mont and Clos du Bourg, Huet's 2015 Vouvray "Cuvée Constance" offers a deep, clear, intense and concentrated nose of ripe stone fruits, peanut butter cookie, spicy, earthy-mineral and some volatile aromas. Sweet, salty, piquant and mineral with a firm structure and very elegant, concentrated, refined fruit, this is a sweet wine with great purity and mineral finesse on the very long, promising finish. The 2016 is still pretty sweet (142 grams of residual sugar) and should be cellared for at least two or three decades. Total production: 2,800 500-milliliter bottles. Tasted February 2018."
