Francois Bertheau

  1. Chambolle-Musigny | Francois Bertheau

William Kelly: “A pretty bouquet of raspberries, dried flowers and a classy framing of new oak introduces the 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Village, a medium-bodied, succulent and open-knit, with a generous core of fruit, juicy acids and melting tannins. It will drink well in its youth while the 2016 and 2015 renditions are maturing in the cellar.” Lees verder

  2. Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru | Francois Bertheau

Burghound: “1 ha blend of Groseilles, Baudes, Noirots and Gruenchers, which interestingly are all bunched together, geographically speaking. A very gentle touch of wood sets off the more elegant, spicier and more complex nose of spice, violets and cool red currant aromas. There is good richness to the supple, round, delicious and equally complex medium-bodied flavors that possess a lovely sense of balance as well as good underlying tension on the youthfully austere finale. Worth considering.” Lees verder

  3. Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru | Francois Bertheau

William Kelly: “A blend of Baudes, Groseilles, Gruenchers and Noirots, Bertheau's 2017 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru offers up notes of sweet red berries, cassis, peonies, dark chocolate and grilled squab. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with more fleshy and underlying structure than the Chambolle AOC, displaying a generous core of succulent fruit and good length on the finish.” Lees verder

  4. Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes | Francois Bertheau

Burghound: “This is also quite spicy but it's also more perfumed with cool and airy aromas of plum, violet and lavender. Supple, round and utterly delicious and seductive medium weight flavors possess a polished mouthfeel thanks to the moderately firm but fine-grained tannins that possess first-rate depth on the highly persistent finish. This is textbook Charmes that should drink well young but with 6 to 8 years of bottle age too. Outstanding” Lees verder

  5. Chambolle-Musigny 1er cru Charmes I Francois Bertheau

William Kelly: “The lovely 2017 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes wafts from the glass with a fragrant bouquet of rose petals, cherries and raspberries that is quintessential Chambolle. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and broader shouldered than the Chambolle 1er Cru bottling, with more depth and dimension and a long, stony finish.” Lees verder

  6. Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru | Francois Bertheau

Burghound: “from a .34 ha parcel located 100% in terres rouges. A moderately high-toned nose consists of notes of red cherry, raspberry, spice, rose petal and warm earth nuances. The richer, bigger and markedly more powerful flavors possess fine mid-palate concentration that despite the extra size and weight is also relatively polished too and particularly so on the sneaky long finish that flashes an interesting hint of dried orange peel.” Lees verder

  7. Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses | Francois Bertheau

William Kelly: “Bertheau's 0.32 hectares have produced a beautiful 2017 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses, a wine that bursts from the glass in a blaze of rose petals, violets, blood orange and raspberries. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and velvety, with a gourmand, layered core of fruit, melting tannins and a pure, fragrant finish.” Lees verder

  8. Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru I Francois Bertheau

William Kelly: “Hailing exclusively from "terres rouges," 2017 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is the king of the cellar, unfurling in the glass with a less outgoing bouquet of peony, cherries, cassis, currant leaf and rich soil tones. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and structured, with a rich chassis of fine-grained tannins, juicy acids and a long, mineral finish. While it's still quintessentially Chambolle, it's the most muscular wine in the range and will demand the most patience.” Lees verder
