Méo-Camuzet

  1. Bourgogne Rouge | Meo-Camuzet

Gilman: “The 2016 Méo Bourgogne rouge had been racked already and was really showing well at the time of my visit. The bouquet offers up a fine blend of red and black cherries, a touch of chocolate, a good base of soil and a whisper of upper register smokiness. On the palate the wine is medium-full, pure and nicely plump in the mid-palate, with ephemeral tannins and lovely focus and grip on the wide open and stylish finish. Good juice. 2018-2023” Lees verder

  2. Marsannay | Méo-Camuzet

John Gilman: ‘I always like what Jean-Nicolas Méo produces in the two villages of Marsannay and Fixin and I am glad that he pays such attention to these two communes. The 2014 Marsannay AC is quite red fruity in personality this year, offering up a bright bouquet of cherries, red berries, mustard seed, a lovely base of soil and a touch of cedar. On the palate the wine is fullish, pure and quite tangy, with a good core of red fruit, nice soil inflection and just a bit of backend tannin adding grip on the pretty long finish. A very good example.’ Lees verder

Lees verder

  4. Fixin | Meo-Camuzet

Burghound: 'This is surprisingly elegant in the context of what is typical with its perfumed dark currant, spice and soft earth nuances. There is more volume and a bit more richness as well to the velvety but detailed medium-bodied flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the lingering finish that displays only a trace of rusticity. This is quite good and worth a look.' Lees verder

  6. Nuits-Saint-Georges | Meo-Camuzet

Neal Martin: “The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Village has an appealing bouquet of blackberry, wild strawberry and orange blossom aromas that demonstrate a little more delineation than some of the other Village Crus from Méo-Camuzet’s négociant arm. The palate is medium-bodied with vivid red fruit, good tension and fine tannin. Though it tapers a little toward the finish, this is a fine Village Cru to enjoy over several years.” Lees verder

  7. Vosne-Romanée | Meo-Camuzet

Gilman: “The 2016 Vosne-Romanée from Domaine Méo-Camuzet is also an outstanding example of its level, offering up a very refined and vibrant bouquet of black raspberries, plums, dark chocolate, a fine base of soil, vanillin oak and a lovely topnote of fresh nutmeg. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and nicely transparent in personality, with a fine core of fruit, moderate tannins and a long, tangy and complex finish. Lovely.” Lees verder

  8. Vonse-Romanee 1er Cru Les Chaumes | Meo-Camuzet

Neal Martin: “The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes 1er Cru, which was de-stemmed, has a clean, precise, quite mineral-driven bouquet, not as powerful as the Aux Brûlées, yet full of energy at this stage. The palate is well balanced with firm tannin but offers plenty of vivacious red fruit laced with white pepper and bay leaf. This is very expressive and surprisingly persistent, exerting fine grip toward the finish. Jean-Nicolas Méo suggests that the vine age is now creating a more structured wine than previously, and I concur. Excellent. Lees verder

  9. Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Boudots | Meo-Camuzet

Neal Martin: “The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Boudots 1er Cru contains around 10% stems that are added into the vat (rather than the whole bunches entering the vessel). The attractive, well-defined bouquet features vibrant black cherries, blueberry and crushed stone aromas, all precise and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with a supple entry and plenty of red fruit laced with brown spices. Quite elegant and charming, just needing a little more grip to come through on the finish but otherwise very fine.” Lees verder

  10. Corton Grand Cru les Perrières | Meo-Camuzet

Gilman: “The parcel of vines in Perrière that Jean-Nicolas Méo works with here were planted in the late 1950s and are now really starting to get into a nice point in their productive lives. The 2016 version here is a classic Corton in the making, offering up a fine nose of black cherries, stony soil tones, venison, espresso, woodsmoke and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and still quite primary, with a rock solid core, beautiful structural elements, ripe, seamless tannins and a very long, soil-driven and youthful finish. This too will be excellent Corton with sufficient bottle age. 2031-2075+.” Lees verder

  13. Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru (MAGNUM) | Meo-Camuzet

Neal Martin: “The 2017 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a detailed, quite elegant bouquet of expressive wild strawberry, cassis and subtle violet aromas, Vosne-like in style. The mineral component becomes more palpable with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, rounded and even corpulent in the mouth, layers of lightly spiced red fruit merging with orange peel and brown spices toward the harmonious and quite persistent finish. This is a very finely crafted Clos de Vougeot from Méo-Camuzet.” Lees verder
