Patrick Piuze

  1. Chablis Terroir de Fyé | Patrick Piuze

The Wine Advocate: "Of all Piuze's Chablis AOC bottlings, the 2017 Chablis Terroir de Fyé is the most structural, its attractive bouquet of peach, Meyer lemon and smoky reduction introducing an ample, medium to full-bodied wine that's still firm and compressed on the finish. It will benefit from a year or two in bottle." Lees verder

  2. Chablis "Terroir de la Chichee" I Patrick Piuze

William Kelly: “From the plateau near the Vaucoupin, Piuze's 2018 Chablis Terroir de Chichée bursts with aromas of crisp green apple, white flowers and fresh peach. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, pure and tensile, with a bright spine of acidity, a tight-knit core of incipiently fleshy fruit and a stony finish.” Lees verder

  3. Chablis "Terroir de Courgis" | Patrick Piuze

William Kelly: “Always one of Piuze's finest cuvées at the communal level, the 2018 Chablis Terroir de Courgis is excellent, revealing notes of smoky green orchard fruit, iodine and citrus oil, followed by a medium to full-bodied, layered and enveloping palate that's fleshy and concentrated, with good underlying tension. While this is one of the richer bottlings in its youth, it ages beautifully, and as its puppy fat falls away, it's the wine's firm underlying spine that dominates.” Lees verder

  4. Chablis 1er Cru Les Forets | Patrick Piuze

The Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Les Forêts is also very promising, offering up notes of crisp peach, iodine, green apple and beeswax. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with a lovely sense of completeness and harmony, concluding with a saline finish." Lees verder

  5. Chablis Premier Cru Vaillons "Les Minots" | Patrick Piuze

The Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons Les Minots hails from one of the sunnier, warmer lieux-dits within the larger climat of Les Vaillons, and it typically produces a more generous, gourmand wine; it's also often where Piuze begins his harvest. This year's rendition is beautifully controlled, revealing aromas of green apple, crisp stone fruits and sweet white flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and glossy, with a rounded but succulent core of fruit, concluding with a delineated finish." Lees verder

  6. Chablis Grand 1er Cru Butteaux | Patrick Piuze

William Kelly: “Notes of green apple, lime, oyster shell and iodine introduce Piuze's 2018 Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux, a medium to full-bodied, ample and attractively layered wine that's concentrated, cool and controlled, with tangy acids and a saline finish. This cuvée derives from a parcel of 75-year-old vines in clay-rich soils that have weathered the warm vintage conditions very well.” Lees verder

  7. Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux | Patrick Piuze

The Wine Advocate: "Notes of lemon oil, grapefruit, crisp green apple and iodine introduce the 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux, a deep, medium to full-bodied wine with an elegantly glossy attack, a firm core and a pure, chalky finish. The amplitude of which the site is capable is effortlessly controlled." Lees verder

  8. Chablis Premier Cru Montée de Tonnerre | Patrick Piuze

William Kelly: “Piuze tells me that his 2018 Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre was the last wine in the cellar to complete its fermentation, and it's accordingly one of the most primary at this early stage, delivering a ripe bouquet of apricot, musky peaches and white flowers despite its comparatively modest potential alcohol. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with good precision that suggests it may gain in tension with a bit more age.” Lees verder

  9. Chablis Grand Cru Blanchots | Patrick Piuze

Burghound: ‘This is somewhat like the Montée de Tonnerre in that there is a cool and elegant nose along with a refined texture on the rounded flavors that culminate in an almost soft and flat finale. While it's speculation on my part my guess is that this too is a victim of the hail but whether it is or isn't, this is pretty awkward today.’ Lees verder

  10. Chablis Grand Cru Bougros | Patrick Piuze

The Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Chablis Grand Cru Bougros exhibits notes of lemon oil, confit citrus, iodine and anise, framed by light reduction. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, glossy and textural, retaining plenty of cut and tension despite its gourmand profile; it's a bit firmer and more structured than the expansive Blanchot." 11. Chablis Grand Cru Valmur | Patrick Piuze

Vinous: ‘(there are just one 228-liter barrel and two 300s of this juice): Pineapple, lemon zest and crushed stone on the nose, along with the typical spicy character of the cru. Broad, moderately ripe and energetic but a bit less filled in than the Bougros and not singing today. The tangy lemon and orange flavors convey a subtle saline quality as well as a faint dry edge. The yield here was almost normal in 2016, noted Piuze.’ Lees verder

  12. Chablis Grand Cru Bougros 'Côte de Bouqueyreaux' | Patrick Piuze

William Kelly: “One of the high points of the range is the 2018 Chablis Grand Cru Bougros Côte de Bouqueyreaux, an excellent rendition of this steep-sloping, stony site within the larger climat of Bougros. Revealing aromas of green apple, pear and mint mingled with oyster shell and lemon oil, it's full-bodied, satiny but tensile, with a vibrant, tight-knit core, excellent concentration and a long, racy finish.” Lees verder
