  1. Champagne Brut "Cuvée Sainte-Anne" | Chartogne-Taillet

Rajat Parr (beroemd sommeliers en wijndirecteur van de Mina group): The cuvée Sain-Anne is not Alexandre’s flashiest Champagne, but for a non vintage brut, it is perfect. Chalky and gently perfumed, it is not about fruit, but about texture, about the flow of heavenly juice through the mouth.” Jancis Robinson: “Very fresh on the nose yet with deep flavours. Serious stuff from the village of Merey. Exceptionally persistent. Great value.” Lees verder

  2. Champagne Brut 'Dans un Premier Temps' I Dhondt-Grellet

Vinous: 'The NV Brut Dans un Premier Temps is delicious. Soft, open and gracious, the Dans un Premier Temps shows its soft curves and resonant personality to great effect. There is good creaminess and up-front richness to the fruit, while the flavors retain striking freshness and aromatic lift throughout. The Dans un Premier Temps is 50% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 20% Pinot Meunier.' Lees verder

  3. Champagne Brut Réserve I Bérêche

Enkele citaten van Antonio Galloni (Vinous) over eerdere releases: “The NV Brut Reserve is endowed with notable power and resonance, but it also needs at least 6-12 more months on the cork to be fully expressive. Bérêche's Brut Reserve has a track record of developing beautifully in bottle. Readers who want to understand the house style will find plenty to admire in the Brut Reserve, which is once again one of the better wines in its peer group.“ “A model of total finesse, the NV Brut Reserve speaks in soft, hushed tones. Dried pear, smoke, herb and dried red stone fruit are nicely delineated, but it is the wine’s exceptional balance and overall class that stand out most.” Lees verder

  4. Champagne Premier Cru Brut 'Ouverture' I Savart

William Kelley: "Disgorged in October 2018 with 4.5 grams per liter dosage, the latest rendition of Savart's NV Brut Premier Cru L'Ouverture is a blend of the 2014, 2015 and 2016 vintages, produced entirely from Pinot Noir, some 30% of which is purchased as grapes. Offering up a classy bouquet of minty yellow orchard fruit, white flowers, fresh peach and warm pastry, it's medium to full-bodied, fine-boned and elegant, with a pinpoint mousse, ripe but racy acids and a long finish. Pristinely balanced, its understated delicacy is typical both of the site and Savart's style." Lees verder

  5. Champagne Premier Cru Extra Brut ' les Terres Fines' I Dhondt-Grellet

The flavors really sizzle in this delineated, vibrant Champagne. Deceptive in its mid-weight structure, the Terres Fines packs a real punch. This is a winner from Adrien Dhondt.' Lees verder

  6. Champagne Blanc de Blancs Oiry Grand Cru Extra Brut I Suenen

John Gilman: “The Oiry grand cru bottling from Monsieur Suenen is from the base year of 2014 [NB wij verkopen de cuvées met als basis 2015] . Like all of the wines in his cellars from 2014 forwards, the vins clairs here were fermented with indigenous yeasts. The Oiry bottling was finished with a dosage of two grams per liter and disgorged in September of 2017. The wine is lovely and a quite elegant on both the nose and palate, with the bouquet offering up scents of pear, apple, fresh-baked bread, chalky soil tones, white flowers and plenty of upper register smokiness. On the palate the wine is crisp, full-bodied, quite open and soil-driven in personality, with a good core, fine focus and grip, elegant mousse and a long, complex and vibrant finish. This is more forward than Aurélien’s “C + C” bottling and is already a delight to drink today. Lees verder

  10. Champagne Premier Cru Extra Brut 'les Nogers' I Dhondt-Grellet

Lees verder

  11. Champagne Extra Brut, Heurtebises | Chartogne-Taillet

Chartogne-Taillet’s 2008 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Cuvee Heurtebise issues from the eponymous Chardonnay vineyard in Merfy and was vinified in steel tank and concrete egg. Juicy peach and lemon tinged with pungent green herbs and pronouncedly marked by their piquant pit and pip mingle with mouthwatering oyster liquor on a polished palate, then launch themselves into a finish of consummate reach, resonance and refreshment. This inevitably versatile cuvee offers outstanding value by Champagne standards and should be worth following for up to half a dozen years. Lees verder

  12. Champagne Blanc de Blanc C+C Grand Cru Extra Brut I Suenen

John Gilman: “This grand cru blend from Aurélien Suenen has been given the cuvée name of “C + C”, as it is a blend of fruit from the two villages of Cramant and Chouilly, and the authorities do not allow the names of two different grand cru villages to appear on the same label. There was an inaugural release of this wine from the 2013 vintage, which I tasted in the cellars here in itsformative stages back in the spring of 2015, but somehow missed it in bottle when it was released last year. This new iteration is from the base year of 2014 [NB wij verkopen de cuvées met als basis 2015] and was finished off with a dosage of three grams per liter and was disgorged in September of 2017. The wine is excellent, offering up a youthful and very promising bouquet of apple, pear, complex, limestone minerality, incipient notes of crème patissière, gentle smokiness and a topnote of dried flowers. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very minerally in personality today, with a rock solid core, fine focus and grip, very elegant mousse and a very long, primary and vibrant finish. This is still a puppy and should be tucked away in the cellar for at least another four years, to allow it to really blossom fully. It will be outstanding with a bit of patience. Lees verder

  16. Champagne Extra Brut, "Les Beaux Sens" | Chartogne-Taillet

The plot called Les Beaux Sens is doubly unusual. The soil is almost entirely sandy and produces Pinot Meunier with a pronounced mineral quality. Even more intriguing is the fact that these Pinot Meunier plants are extremely rare because they are ungrafted. The Phylloxera mite that devastated most of the European vineyards some 150 years ago is unable to move freely in sandy soil and so a few small pockets of vines remained unaffected by the blight. The majority of the Champagne vineyards were saved by grafting French vines onto American root stocks that were resistant to Phylloxera, but amazingly this little plot at Les Beaux Sens escaped and to this day the Pinot Meunier planted here are ungrafted. Vinous: “The 2013 Beau Sens presents a distinctly softer, rounder expression of Meunier than the Alliees. Dried pear, spice, crushed flowers and mint all grace this soft, open-knit Champagne. This is an especially caressing, open-knit style. Disgorged: June 2018.” Lees verder

Vinous “Weightless, elegant and remarkably pure, the 2014 Les Beaux Regards has it all. Lemon confit, pastry, white flowers, smoke, slate and a touch of new oak infuse a regal Chardonnay endowed with pure class. The depth and nuance of the flavors recalls a great Corton Charlemagne. The 2014 needs a bit of time in bottle to fully assimilate its oak and the slight bit of reduction that comes from aging on the cork. Disgorged February 2018. Dry, focused and light on its feet, offering tangy strawberry and citrus zest flavors that put on weight with air. Shows outstanding clarity and lift on a finish that leaves chalky mineral and floral notes in its wake. As graceful a pink Champagne as you're likely to find, but it doesn't lack at all for flavor depth or intensity." Lees verder
