  2. Vin de France Mousseux 'Six Roses' I Sylvain Dittière

    Sylvain Dittière nous présente Six Roses 2014, un pet'nat rosé, classé Vin de France. Encépagement: 95% de Cabernet Franc, complété par du Sauvignon et du Chenin. Ce sont donc principalement les jeunes vignes des parcelles Saumur-Champigny, Beaugrands en tête. Des parcelles sur des sols de sable, limon et argile sur calcaire, une excellente combinaison pour retenir la chaleur et assurer la maturité. Rendements autour de 20 hl/ha. Ce jus a la particularité d'être macéré avec des pétales de roses (le père de Sylvain est pépiniériste, spécialisé dans les roses.... Une inspiration toute logique et une expérience qu'il partage). Vinification sans soufre, débourbage. Dose homéopathique de soufre à la mise: 2 gr/hl. La porte Saint-Jean est le domaine dont tout le monde parle, les vins atteignent un niveau égal, voire supérieur, au Clos Rougeard...     To be assembled from multiple pickings and lots within five (as its name indicates, clay-rich) lieux-dits, Chidaine's 2009 Vouvray Les Argiles leads with bittersweet iris perfume, and smells and tastes vividly of pineapple and lemon, with a strikingly vintage-atypical sense of acidity that results largely from the predominance of cool, water-retentive soil, particularly in the dominant L'Homme and Reugnieres vineyards but also from the fruit originating in Le Haut Lieu, a site made famous by Huet. Bright pineapple and lemon refresh on a palate of palpable density and penetrate in a finish both energizing and somehow cooling in both its refreshment and its suggestions of high-toned herbal essences, fresh cress, and wet stone. Salt, iodine, and shrimp shell reduction will also feature saliva-inducingly in the final blend for this long-finishing and at most 13.5% alcohol blend that should be worth following for at least 8-10 years.     Les Bournais is a newly planted site overlooking the Loire river. It had been abandoned for some time, but Chidaine believes that this is one of the very best sites in Montlouis, and planted vines here in 1999. Unlike most of Montlouis, which is on clay and silex, or flint, Bournais lies on clay and limestone, and the name Bournais refers to the particular type of limestone found here. Chidaine’s goal is to vinify this dry, barring the occasional aberration such as 2005, and the result is a rich, full-bodied wine, probably the closest to Vouvray in profile of all Chidaine’s Montlouis wines. The bouquet is bright, pure and nascently complex, offering up scents of lemon, apple, quince, bee pollen, chalky soil tones and a topnote of spring flowers. On the palate the wine is deep, fullbodied and more closed in personality than the Le Haut Lieu Sec, with a bit of the backend dustiness of shutdown young Vouvray already starting to throw its weight around, but with excellent depth at the core and impressive focus. The finish is long, beautifully balanced and intensely flavored, with great energy and grip. This is dynamite wine in the making but unlike the Le Haut Lieu Sec, I would be tempted to tuck this away in the cellar right away and not drink any bottles during its first couple of years, as I have the sense that this is going to shut down quite briskly and it will be pointless to waste bottles early on, particularly given how much potential there is here for down the road! 2028-2060+. 94."
